Personal and Professional Background
Lara has extensive experience in providing advice to insurers, underwriting agencies, general insurance brokers and government departments. She has specialised in providing advice on indemnity and policy interpretation, and also defending common law claims brought against insured’s.
Her broader experience spans many areas including public liability, product liability, professional indemnity, industrial special risks, construction all risks, consumer protection law and CTP.
Lara has acted for clients in respect of matters in the High Court, Federal Court, Court of Appeal, Supreme Court, District Court, Local Court, Industrial Relations Tribunal, Consumer Trader and Tenancy Tribunal and the ACT Supreme and Magistrates Courts.
Lara obtained a BA/LLB from the Australian National University in 1993 and was admitted as a solicitor in 1994. She is admitted to practice in New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory and the High Court of Australia. Lara has completed further studies in insurance and is a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF). She is also a member of the Australian Insurance Law Association.
