Personal and Professional Background
Kate joined McCabe Terrill as a consultant in June 2011, having previously been a partner at Moray & Agnew Lawyers and before that a partner at Hunt & Hunt Lawyers. Kate has 20 years experience specialising in workers compensation, common law personal injury matters for public sector clients and coronial inquests for the NSWPF.
Kate has acted on behalf of the NSWPF for the past 20 years – defending workers compensation claims, common law claims, “hurt on duty” claims and coronial inquests. In addition to acting on behalf of the NSWPF, Kate has acted for major insurers, large employers, TMF agencies, self insured employers in relation to workers compensation claims, both statutory and common law. She also spent 2 years representing large employers in the ACT.
She has successfully handled matters in all jurisdictions: Workers Compensation Court, Workers Compensation Commission, District Court, Supreme Court, Court of Appeal, GREAT, IRC, and the Coroner’s Court.
Kate has accumulated a wealth of experience in workers compensation claims, personal injury claims and coronial inquests. Clients value Kate’s special understanding of personal injuries in the emergency services and community service sectors and her deft handling of claims with workplace wide and/or scheme wide implications. With respect to coronial inquests, Kate has protected the interests of the Commissioner in a number of high profile hearings which have attracted media interest.
Kate is a member of Women in Insurance and Women Lawyers.
